Homo Novus 2015

Programme

81 Avenue Victor Hugo

Olivier Coulon-Jablonka (Paris)
8, 9 September 20:00, Former 'Energoremonts' manufactory | 20 and 15 eur

Avenue Victor Hugo is one of the luxury streets in Paris, while in Aubervilliers the street with the same name accommodates warehouses, Asian textile stores, little grocery shops and cafe-tobacco stands. Number 81, former employment agency is now an empty building facing unfinished Chinese supermarket. In August 2014 after four months in the streets the house was squatted by dozens of immigrants without papers. Eight of them take part in the performance to talk about their survival mechanisms and their way to Europe – “the cradle of Humanism” where solidarity and empathy co-exist with violence and lie is an answer to injustice. Their journeys lasting for years and spreading across continents raise question about the nature of hospitality and universal rights to home.
