Nightwalks with Teenagers

Mammalian Diving Reflex (Toronto)
5, 6, 8 September 20:30, Zolitūde | 10 and 7 eur

Nightwalks with Teenagers is a walking performance created in collaboration with young people from Zolitūde, one of Riga neighbourhoods. They have planed and designed this walk through the city at night to share their stories and their favourite parts of the neighbourhood. The project brings together teens and adults who might not otherwise meet, to have experiences related to a shared place and time; it offers an opportunity for adults to socialize with young people in a safe social space, where everyone can let loose, and silences offer moments for contemplation.

Performance in Riga is commissioned by the festival and conceived in collaboration with Latvian youth as a part of the festival’s 20th anniversary programme, Twenty.

This presentation of Nightwalks with Teenagers has been made possible in part by grants from the Canada Council for the Arts Theatre International Program and the Ontario Arts Council’s National and International Touring program, with many thanks to Grammar School of Nordic Languages and Zolitude Gymnasium.
