Gundega Laiviņa
Artistic Director
While I still have the illusion, that there is a free, honest and fearless art that can open your eyes, sharpen your mind and move your heart, I belong here.
Jānis Liniņš
Technical Director
There is a community based on love and faith for theatre that brings festival organisers, participants and spectators together. In Latvia, one such community is emerging around Homo Novus, and I want to be a part of it.
Laura Stašāne
Producer and PR coordinator
It’s simple – there are performances that have changed my life and I believe others can have the same.
Sandra Lapkovska
Producer and guest service coordinator
Homo Novus discovered the world full of surprises and I want to show that to others, too.
Zane Kreicberga
Coordinator of Nomadic School
Homo Novus is not a routine, predictability, VIP section, compromise, boredom, bad performances and disappointment. Homo Novus is a risk, humaneness, artists, that change (my) world, good team, faith in ideals, inspiration and dancing till dawn.
Linda Pēterkopa
Producer
Homo Novus is a place where you can meet curious minds and hear people’s stories and experiences that encourage the dialogue between stage and reality. Theatre is alive and once every two years Homo Novus is the one to acknowledge that. The reason I’m here is because this festival is not afraid of challenges and is asking questions I want to find answers to.
Santa Remere
Coordinator of youth programmes
I joined the festival hoping to encourage young people to engage with contemporary theatre and to find out their likes and dislikes by themselves. We share the same world and I don’t find it relevant to offer “understandable” but poor art to the youth. Sometimes we have to step over the age limits like any others.
Mārtiņš Mielavs
Festival club manager
I am taking part in Homo Novus, because I like theatre, I like the festival, its attitude towards the art and artists, its spirit of change and people who make it. I believe, Homo Novus changes its spectators and I hope, this change is for good.
Anda Skrējāne
Festival designer
Homo Novus gives you the chance to stir your brain and place yourself in the middle of this significant culture event. It is a great opportunity to give a little and receive twice as much.
ILMĀRS ŠLĀPINS
Curator of public talks, editor in chief of online magazine Satori
Contemporary theatre is one of the last art forms that can still manage to touch the spectator and trigger the profound thought within for discussion and exchange of experiences. The festival performances have the potential to do that and I wish them to go and reach as many people as possible.
Anna Zagorska
Producer of Madlove
You live asking questions and looking for answers to understand who you are and why do you exist. Homo Novus is a place to get closer to these issues. I do respect people who are passionate about ideas and processes, who have their opinions and ideals, who love what they are doing. Homo Novus is about this kind of people.
Kārlis Lapiņš
Production assistant
The festival brings a fresh breeze of the world into Riga. During this time, I have the chance to see a number of the world’s most current contemporary theatre companies, many of which I have only heard of.
Kristaps Bedrītis
Production assistant
Homo Novus is a challenge, adventure, sleepless nights, interesting persons and inspiring stories. It is a festival that broadens your worldview, urges to think and fulfills your everyday with this amazing breath of the world I am longing for. It’s all there.
Kirils Ēcis
Production assistant
I am 15 years old and I am deeply interested in contemporary art and art in general. I make stencils, play drums, write poems and short stories, make short and animation films. My favourite colour is blue.
